Harvey Rotary Recycling Regatta
... sailing towards a sustainable future ...
-
The Harvey Rotary Recycling Regatta is a great fun event using creative water craft, whilst recognising the importance of recycling.
-
Challenges commence at 9.30am. All entrants must check in with their fully built craft between 8am and 9am on the day. Scrutineering will commence at 8am.
-
Each crew member must be able to swim.
-
You can only nominate one category per craft.
-
Entry is open to everyone through the appropriate categories
-
Crews of up to 4 people are allowed, and only kayak-style paddles provided on the day are allowed as a means of propulsion. The connecting of oars or rudders on the craft is not allowed.
-
All parts of the body must be inside the craft and no flippers or hand paddles are allowed. If anyone falls off, they can get back on and inside the craft to continue, or concede.
-
100% of your containers must be recyclable drink containers, empty and not modified (ie not cut up)
-
All craft must have a hull that measures a maximum of 1 metre x 2 metres
-
The craft cannot be covered by a skin (ie plastic bags, etc) nor flattened cardboard or any other material other than the drink containers and gaffa-style tape.
-
The drink containers cannot be completely covered with gaff-style tape - it would constitute the creation of a “skin” which is not allowed and will cause disqualification. 50% of each container must be exposed.
-
Styrofoam or other materials covered with drink containers does not constitute an eligible entry and will cause disqualification.
-
Each craft must be designed to allow on both sides an area to display an A4 size craft name and number so it is visible to spectators; the number will be issued on the day.
-
Entrants under 18, including crew members, must have their parent or guardian sign the entry form and submit a signed Consent Form with the Entry Form.
-
Each craft must be disassembled into the appropriate waste bins after the challenge, or taken home complete.
-
The Rotary Club of Harvey, promoters and sponsors of this regatta accept no liability for any loss or damage suffered by or to any entrant or crew by any means, act or omission, or through any circumstances except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
-
ALL entrants and crew enter and compete in this regatta solely at their own risk and are subject to the direction and control of the Regatta organisers - the members of the Rotary Club of Harvey.
-
The Rotary Club of Harvey reserves the right to alter or cancel the event without notice. The decision of the judges in all aspects of the event will be final and cannot be contested. Awarding of prizes is at the sole discretion of the judges and organisers.
